It can be unsettling for schools to see lower Lexile scores than they expected for students who they view as being competent readers or students. Sometimes this means that students are very good sight readers but have difficulty reading for comprehension, which the LitPro test is assessing. For students that are scoring BR and not seeing an improvement between tests, you can remind the customer that BR actually covers a span of almost 600 Lexiles, from -474L to 99L. So, while the child may be making improvement it could still show as BR.
It's also very important that customers understand that the LitPro test is not designed to be taken in succession in such a short period of time. There are not enough test items to support this and the algorithm will be thrown off and deliver inaccurate results. We are in the process of writing more lower-Lexile questions so that students who do take the test more often than recommended have new items to answer.
