Benchmarks are Lexile level ranges that indicate proficiency levels for students at given grades/years in primary through secondary school. Currently, Literacy Pro offers benchmarks that are correlated to US standards, to international standards for non-native English speaking students, and for several other countries (Hong Kong, Singapore, and India). Schools will be able to select the pre-defined benchmark that makes most sense for them to monitor their students’ proficiency levels, according to their school or local standards.
If the opportunity arises, Scholastic is able to partner with MOEs or school boards to develop benchmarks that are correlated to their local standards. We are developing a proposal for this kind of study. The proposal will outline what is involved in conducting the study and developing benchmarks for them. There will be a cost to the customer, and the customer will need to provide Scholastic with information about their standards so that MetaMetrics can conduct the analysis.
