Is it possible to subscribe students to products, even if they are not in a class?

Yes. If you go to the Subscribe Users tab and click the Select Class dropdown, there is an option which says "Students not assigned to a class." When you select this option, the table will populate with the names of any students who aren't assigned to a class, and you will be able to subscribe them to products.
